What to do in Toronto: My Travel Itinerary

Updated: Aug 1

Here's my travel itinerary from a 3-day trip to Toronto Canada in May 2023. Full of details with what to do and eat if you're also planning on going there.

Disclaimers:

  • These are just my suggestions of what to do in Toronto based on our visit last year, there's lots more to explore.

What to do in Toronto - Day 1 (evening only):

  • Flight to Toronto Airport then took the UP Express and a tram to get to our Hostel: The Planet Traveler Hostel. I could not recommend this hostel enough, it was perfect!

  • We had some Ruffles All Dressed Crisps and drinks on the rooftop of our hostel.

  • Evening walk through Kensington Market.

  • $$ Dinner: Pizzeria Via Mercanti - Delicious Neapolitan pizza with original flavours.

What to do in Toronto - Day 2:

  • $ Breakfast: The hostel served a breakfast buffet, I tried blueberry bagels for the first time.

  • Explored Chinatown to walk from our hostel to the CN Tower. Then went up the tower to take in the view.

  • Walk through Roundhouse Park and a bit of the Harbour front.

  • $ Lunch: Juicy Dumpling - shared a few dumplings as a starter and these were quick and delicious.

  • $ Lunch: Tacos 101 - we shared tacos and agua frescas. The birria tacos and nopales in particular were amazing! There are lots of incredible taquerias in Kensington market though.

  • Nap time!

  • $$ Drinks : We tried the 29th best bar in North America: Bar Pompette. Compared to other bars on the list, it was less expensive (although still a luxury). I had a delicious cornichon martini.

  • $$ Dinner: For a little home comfort, we went to The Cottage Cheese for an Indian spread. It was delicious.

What to do in Toronto - Day 3:

  • $ Breakfast: Hostel again.

  • We got a Flixbus to Niagara Falls. This was the cheapest transport at the time. We walked alongside the falls to the old power station and back.

  • $ Lunch: we had lunch at A Taste of Jamaica, which sadly doesn't seem to exist anymore. When we went, there weren't many options for lunch other than north american chain restaurants.

  • $ Dinner: We cooked in the hostel and played boardgames on the roof terrace,

What to do in Toronto - Day 4:

  • $$ Brunch: Ruby Soho for pancakes and drinks. We watched the F1 race there for a chill morning.

  • We walked down a bit of graffiti alley, walked across downtown along the museums to get to the University Campus, then walked down Yonge street. We went by the Toronto sign to get to St Lawrence market, stopping by a few vintage shops and the Berczy park dog fountain along the way. Finally, we went to the distillerie district just in time to catch a live jazz band.

  • $$ Dinner: We went to see the Toronto Blue Jays play Texas (the hostel has season tickets) and had overpriced hotdogs in the stadium. It was such an American movie experience, we loved it. Cheerleaders, audience cam, hotdogs, view of the CN tower, a very fun evening.

The next day, we treated ourselves to breakfast at Found Coffee before getting the plane to Calgary!
